Team rides past the $23,000 mark

The All-Women’s Simpson Desert Crossing team raised an amazing $23,406 in their history-making four-day motorbike marathon across Australia’s most desolate off-road challenge.

The Birdsville to Mount Dare journey was a test in every sense, but one the all-female team were never going to quit on.

“The reason we challenged ourselves was to help change the conversation on bullying. We have all been subjected to taunts, being girls that are adventurous and a little out of the ordinary. But this event proves that by working together we can get things done,” spokesperson Chantal Simons said.

“Injuries made it tough, and there were other times when we had to take to the tools and dig out bikes that were bogged in order to get our teammate up the next hill. We did it by working together.”

And who knows, they had just enough energy leftover to talk about doing it next year! Amazing.
