Hear the real stories behind the legends that are the faces of Do It For Dolly Day 2024, and understand why they decided to take part.

Isabella, Dog Trainer, Ulverstone TAS

Isabella is a passionate animal lover, with a thriving dog training business, and engagement in community work like therapy dogs for military veterans, at risk youth and the emergency department at a local hospital. She experienced the damaging effects of bullying in high school. The hardest part of this was when a close friend took their life after extended bullying. The addition of a puppy Border Collie Fly helped her recover and seek the sunshine and joy in life, and she now encourages all kids to get their worries, emotions and frustrations out, to share the hard conversations and concerns, even if it’s with their dog. This Do It For Dolly Day, Isabella is spreading blue throughout her community on a pack walk with the humans and furry companions close to her heart.

Luke, Farmer, Moama NSW

Luke is a proud father of two teenage boys and a third generation farmer from NSW. He keeps fit and connects with community through an epic training program that sees him doing Ironman and ultra-triathlons throughout the year. His most epic achievement to date has been to complete Ultraman Australia, a three day event, that required a 10 km swim, 420 km bike and an 84 km run. When his community experienced the loss of a young person from bullying, he was motivated to dedicate his fitness feats to prevent bullying in their community. So this Do It For Dolly Day, he’s organising a group swim in the Murray to raise awareness, build strong bonds and fundraise amongst friends. Water temperature in the Murray River at Moama in May is around 10 degrees so another big challenge awaits Luke this year for “Do it For Dolly Day”.

Katie, Primary School Teacher, Moe VIC

Katie is a proud Taribelang Bunda woman, Kurnai Language teacher and 5/6 classroom teacher. Katie is one of a small but passionate team of teachers who greet every one of their 140 students by name each morning at the school gate, as part of their focus on promoting kindness for everyone. As a teacher, Katie knows she has an important job to demonstrate compassion and empathy. Because when students feel safe and cared for, they’re more likely to have higher self esteem, greater engagement and produce better outcomes. This Do It For Dolly Day, Katie and all the students and staff at Albert St Primary School will dress up in every shade of blue and celebrate kindness all day.

Nicky, BMX Champion, WA

Nicky is an international BMX champ and a fifo air con refrigeration mechanic based in WA. And in these roles, she meets all sorts of people all over the world. Whether it’s a little aspiring BMX rider, or a fifo colleague, she brings her trademark pragmatism, generosity and kindness to every exchange. They’re lessons she’s learnt growing up in the tight knit rural community of Katherine where she was a family friend of the Everetts. Nicky now has a mission to spread kindness all over the world, and this Do It For Dolly Day, she’ll be selling unique blue Dolly BMX jerseys to fundraise and show her true colours to her global audience.

Gill & Donna, Walkers and Friends, SA

Gill and Donna have a long-lasting friendship built around walking across the Simpson desert. During their bi-annual trek, they climb 1000 sand dunes, and walk 20 kms a day, which they achieve by challenging eachother to push a little harder every day, in the way only old friends can. They want to see a world where their grandkids grow up safe and happy, with healthy friendships like theirs. So this Do It For Dolly Day, they are planning a new desert walk where they’ll fundraise and proudly fly their Dolly’s Dream blue across the red centre.

How does Dolly's Dream pay for all the billboards, television and radio commercials I am seeing and hearing right now?

We proudly partner with Essencemediacom, who help us broadcast the campaign, for free, via pro bono media support from their media partners. For more info on this amazing partnership, read here.
