Hey mate,

Kate and I are just ordinary bush folk who would much rather be moving cattle than in the spotlight.

After Dolly left us Kate and I could see that Dolly’s story had touched people everywhere and we felt the best way to remember our beautiful girl was to start a nationwide conversation about the devastating effects of bullying.

Once the news went public, the support started flowing in. We were overwhelmed with messages of care and encouragement. Donations came from all over Australia. We want to give a huge shout out to the rural community who despite their own hardship (life on the land is tougher than ever) have been so incredibly generous. Because of your generosity we can bring Dolly’s Dream to life.

Our Dream

Our dream is the same any other parents, a happy life for our children. But now we also want to stop bullying from devastating another family.

Together with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation we’re going to find ways to educate parents on the problem of bullying, its effects and how to deal with it. We want to empower people to be able to recognize bullying when it happens, then be brave enough to stand up and talk about it.

It is said it takes a village to raise a child and we agree. We are going to take a whole-of-community approach with Dolly’s Dream that involves, parents, children, schools and government, we hope you'll join us.

Next steps

This is new territory for us but we’ve enlisted expert help to ensure that every dollar you have sent us will be used to start our work.

1

Research

It may sound boring, but we need to be sure that we focus on areas that will have the most impact.  Figuring out exactly where the problem lies, then finding the most effective solution means your money will be used in the best possible way.

2

Educate

While we’re tackling the research, we need to start shining a light on bullying and its effects.  We’ll get some experts talking about bullying and dealing with it, in ways that are easy to understand.

3

Plan & deliver

This is the bit we are most excited about. Once we know where the money needs to be spent we’ll start putting some services together to begin to address bullying.  We already have some plans that are going to be rolled out in the next few months.
