The Travelling Jackaroo

30 Jan 2024

Sam Hughes, otherwise known as 'The Travelling Jackaroo', has been driving around Australia for charity in a 1957 Chamberlain 9G tractor to help raise vital funds and awareness of the serious effects of bullying and rural mental health. Sam has been supporting Dolly's Dream since 2021 and has raised over $66k, helping to fund our anti-bullying programs and initiatives to support young people and their families.

"I chose to support Dolly's Dream because bullying is unacceptable in any way. I'm driving a tractor around Australia to raise awareness and to get people to speak up. It's going great, and I've raised over $200k for Dolly's Dream, the Royal Flying Doctors Service, and Drought Angels. My plans once I finish this trip in 9 months’ time is to build and run a mobile travelling museum on Australian History including a key focus on Outback and Rural people and objects as well as various aspects of Travelling people of Australia (Showmen, Swagmen, Circus and several others). I will continue to fundraise for my charities and will incorporate aspects of them into it as well to enable me to continue my fundraising and awareness raising, long into the future as well as providing a uniquely educational experience for not only the young but the old too.”

Congratulations, Sam, for your tremendous efforts! We are truly grateful for your ongoing support and commitment to supporting Dolly's Dream.
