At the tender age of 16 I was in a battle I knew nothing about. I was fighting demons that had followed me throughout my childhood. (You know the ones that call you names and make you feel like you’re unlovable).

This stemmed from years of bullying both physical and cyber. It has since followed me into my adult years and has continued to make me feel like I am in fact ‘unlovable’ and ‘have no friends’.

That all changed for me recently, I found my ‘place’ in society and at my work place (more like home than a work place). I am realising I may not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok. But I still choose kindness. Because in those darkest hours that’s when we need the most support, love and kindness.

And so my new favourite quote goes ‘it’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken adults’.

In loving memory of Dolly Everett. Forever 14!
