Growing up, Hannah experienced ongoing bullying at school and online and it followed her everywhere. At 17, she told us she had hit rock bottom and ended up in hospital. After working hard on her recovery, she decided to use her voice to advocate for others who struggle to speak up.
She had heard about Dolly's Dream a few years ago and it struck a personal chord with her. She told us:
"When I discovered Dolly’s Dream, I knew I wanted to be part of it. Every May, I walk over 50 kilometres to raise money for Do It For Dolly Day. Last year, I walked from Latrobe to Kindred Hall in one day because I wanted to do something big."

This year, Hannah organised a 'Dancing For Dolly' fundraiser to raise funds to support our vital services for young people and families affected by bullying.
An overnight camping experience with live music, raffles and food trucks. With friends and family supporting her every step of the way, she raised an incredible $11,200 for Dolly's Dream.
"I chose Dolly’s Dream because it hits home. I was lucky to get help before my parents had to experience the heartbreak that Kate and Tick did - something no parent should ever go through.
I wanted to do something big and show that Dolly’s Dream has reached all the way from the top of Australia to the northwest coast of Tasmania.
Because every young person and family needs to know they can seek support. Bullying is never okay. We need to spread kindness and remind people they are not alone."

Looking back at her time during school Hannah remembers getting a Grade Six Graduation bear from her teacher.
"He wrote on my graduation bear: "The world is yours to change and enjoy." Back then I didn't understand what it meant. Now I do, it means using my voice, embracing the pain I went through and turning it into something positive."
"I want to be part of the change in how we treat people, how our youth treat each other and connect."
A huge thank you to Hannah for having the strength to speak up and for dedicating so much time and effort to raising funds for Dolly's Dream. We appreciate you!
Hannah's story is such a powerful reminder of what we can do when we come together as a community.
