Last month our Program Manger visited many “rural unique workplaces”, all AACO (Australian Agricultural Company) cattle stations, where all staff not only work with each other, but also live and socialise too. Some stations were 5 hours from their closest town!
Our programs and services support rural, regional, and remote communities and this was an opportunity to speak directly with AACo’s staff who live and work in our remote and isolated lands.
Many are young people who are experiencing their first job and are dealing with the usual complexities that come with first time employment. Let alone the extra layers that isolation can add.
We had discussions around creating a culture of kindness, inclusivity and where to get support, aiming to provide a safe place for everyone to talk and seek avenues of help.
Trips like these allow us at Dolly’s Dream to grasp an authentic understanding of what people who live and work in remote and isolated areas are dealing with, and the urgent need for us to continue to support our remote communities in any way we can.
